Facilitation & Consultancy

Evaluation Facilitator

Since 2022 I have worked as a FailSpace champion and Facilitator, delivering workshops for funders, Universities, cultural and third sector organisations.

FailSpace is an AHRC research project led by University of Leeds and Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh.  Workshops introduce tools and approaches regarding how the cultural sector and project funded projects can better recognise, acknowledge and learn from failure.

What is FailSpace?

As part of my previous roles within National Portfolio Arts Organisations and Higher Education and as a freelance Producer, I have experienced first hand the hurdles to creating evaluations that embrace the full spectrum of learning and views of different stakeholders equally.

FailSpace research is based on the principle that learning from failure should be an integral part of the process of making work. The research found that this is rarely part of evaluation processes (specifically for grant-funded and time limited projects), which tend to focus on celebratory success stories with limited critical reflection of what could be done better next time. As a faciltator I feel passionately about helping organisations to create really impactful evaluation for their projects, funds and programmes of work, by using the FailSpace open access tools, hosted by the Centre for Cultural Value.
